Introduction to Semiotics by Jean-Marie Klinkenberg

Jean-Marie Klinkenberg is a professor of language sciences at the University of Liège, Belgium. He has significantly contributed to the fields of linguistics and semiotics, particularly through the Group μ, which has revitalized rhetoric with a social and cognitive perspective, and established visual semiotics. Klinkenberg has also transformed the study of Francophone cultures, focusing on cultural productions within an institutional framework. He is an editorial board member of various international publications and has been a visiting professor on five continents. Semiotics, a paradoxical discipline, intersects multiple sciences and strives to apply to diverse objects, from art to law. However, its practitioners cannot master every detail across these fields.
