Dr. Sadao Hoki’s house stood on a rocky Japanese coast, where he had played as a child, overlooking a narrow beach lined with bent pines. His father, a strict man, often spoke of the islands as Japan's future. Influenced by his father's words, Sadao traveled to America at 22 to study medicine. Upon his return at 30, he gained fame as a surgeon and scientist, working on significant wound care research. As he watched the mist rise from the ocean, his wife, Hana, joined him, symbolizing their bond.
